Elias highlights: part one?

by John at 3/27/2007 08:47:00 PM

So, I went through about 2.5 hours (I still have an hour more to go) of video Friday night, selecting my favorite clips. And tonight, since the Battlestar Galactica and Heroes seasons are over and I don't have any important TV to watch until Thursday, I cut out a few silly bits of Elias laughing, roaring, or making funny faces. He's between 7 and 9 months old in all of them, so, yep, they are from last winter.

pant, pant, pant

by John at 3/23/2007 12:30:00 PM

My three weeks in The Hell Of Working As Hard As You Are Supposed To (Chinese have a lot of Hells1) has finally ended. It didn't end particularly well, but it did end. Now I can get back to my normal low-level slackerdom. (Just kidding, Boss! I try to be good hard-worker-man, but refrigemator so messy, so so messy.2)

Expect great things! Last weekend I transferred about 3.5 hours of digital video to the computer. This weekend, maybe I'll put together a highlight reel of the charming young chimp who lives in my house. I know you can't wait, but don't hold your breath.

break time

by John at 3/20/2007 08:37:00 PM

Another break from not-blogging, and I bring you a relaxing game called Boomshine. Just don't get stressed out when you can't finish level twelve. It's pretty much all luck, but try to see where the dots will be, not where they are. Don't try too hard though - enjoy the pretty colors.

I can't believe I'm breaking my no-blogging streak for this.

I do not have any pie. I hope you fare better.

Samms' Photos from India

by SamIam at 3/07/2007 11:55:00 AM

Hi all! Well, John's not posting much so I figured some of you might be goose-starved enough to take time to view my recent photos from Cayla & my trip to India. We went for vacation, but also to be at my friend, Saurabh's, wedding.

slow blogging

by John at 3/02/2007 11:39:00 AM

Work is really kicking my ass this week, and will be for the next three weeks. So, even the lame blogging I have been doing will be lighter than usual.

If you want to kick in with some posts of your own, I'd be doubleplushappy for the momentary distractions. See this post about upgrading your blogger account if you haven't already.

RIAA boycott

by John at 3/02/2007 08:33:00 AM

March is RIAA boycott month at Gizmodo. Read their anti-RIAA manifesto to learn why you should participate and what you can do.
First and foremost, we want the lawsuits to stop. Treating normal people like common criminals and using fear tactics and intimidation to extort thousands of dollars from them goes against everything that this country stands for. Secondly, we want them to stop insisting that DRM software be used on all of their music being sold online. People are willing to pay for their music, but they deserve to be able to own that music and use it however they'd like once they purchase it. And lastly, we want the RIAA to stop trying to stifle innovation and control the future of the Internet merely because the possibility exists for piracy to happen using upcoming technologies.

A couple of things the boycott might entail: No new CDs from Warner Music, EMI, Vivendi Universal, and Sony BMG or no purchases from iTunes or other DRM-befouled music.

Sure, this isn't very much in the grand scheme of things. It's not like getting the US out of the Iraq civil war or re-instating habeas corpus for foreigners. But it is something you can do that might make a small difference.

Anyway, just so you know. This gives me extra resistance against purchasing those three songs I want from the iTunes store that I just haven't been able to find anywhere else (and if anyone has a copy of the album Front by Front by Front 242, let me know).

(thanks to: Steve)
