Lazy book review

by Amy, Bill, Guillermo and Alma at 1/31/2007 11:10:00 AM

So, I'm not as good at these things as John, but read a book that might be of interest as the author is often compared to Philip K. Dick. The story is a fun little trip through time and the mind...so...here we are: Salon's 2000 review of Victor Pelevin's "Buddha's Little Finger".

oh, look at that

Three-years-o-blogging done today. What a tragic waste of perfectly good time*.

note to hipsters

You should not buy The Shins new album, Wincing the Night Away, because it was featured in February's Reader's Digest as one of "5 Things We Don't Want You to Miss", unless you are buying it ironically because it was featured as one of "5 Things We Don't Want You to Miss" in Reader's Digest.

photo dump

I've dumped about a month worth of photos in Flickr for your perusal.* Start here to enjoy Elias (and a few other people) or to see what Christmas was like in Arizona, before I came down with a stomach virus (just choose which set to follow). Wendy got a new camera - a Nikon D50 dSLR that takes really sharp photos. It's easy to tell which ones they are.

just so you know

by John at 1/15/2007 10:35:00 AM

The current blog description up there is from NewsRadio, but it is not a Bill McNeal quote. Instead, it's a quote from Beth that was just too luminescent to pass up.

the only notable part of the President's speech last night

by John at 1/11/2007 07:34:00 AM

"Where mistakes have been made, the responsibility rests with me."

That's nice, but notice how he didn't actually say he made mistakes? You've got to love the passive voice.

Still, I think that they probably used some kind of special CIA mind-control drugs to get him to actually read that line off the teleprompter. Otherwise, it would have been like that episode of Happy Days where The Fonz keeps failing to say "I was wrong."

(Full transcript (of speech, not the Happy Days episode))

[expression of listlessness]

by John at 1/10/2007 07:55:00 AM

Sorry, I've been lazy.

No new computer means I haven't uploaded any Elias photos to Flickr, and I haven't found anything else worth posting about.

On the other hand, it looks like only one co-blogger switched to the new Blogger so she could maintain her blogging privileges, which she hasn't used since sometime in 2004 (I think) anyway. This means I'm not the only one who doesn't care.

I'll probably be getting a replacement Mac-mini soon, and then I'll put up some more pictures of the boy. Lucky you!

Update: It looks like her last post was actually 1/29/06. I was wrong.

what's done is done

The blog is converted to New Blogger. I know you are all anxious to get back to your regular prolific rambling posts, so be sure to convert your account over and type away.
