Blown Away (in a good way)

So, Bill and I saw a show on Saturday and were pretty much blown away by one of the bands we saw. Arcade Fire is a Montreal band that's worth a listen. Their site is a little lacking, but they have a link to a few mp3s on their label's site. Worth checking out!
For some other new music, you might want to check out Comfort Stand for some free Creative Common license albums and tracks. Right now, I'm enjoying singles compilations "Wakka Chikka Wakka Chikka Porn Music For The Masses Volume 1" and "Swingin' Singles" - recommended by Xeni at Boing Boing and Wil Wheaton.
Phoebe especially rocks out to Messer Chups "Intro Monstro Crescendo"! I think she likes the theramin.

I got to listen to Arcade Fire today. Pretty good stuff - I was tapping my toes and bobbing my head like a hipster gettin' down, because that is the most rockin' my company's draconian safety policies will allow an employee while he or she is on site.

Why am I the usually the only person who comments? Is it too much work to log in? Too busy wrapping presents? Cat got your tongue?
Anyway, "Funeral" by the Arcade Fire gets to be number 2 on Thomas Barlett's (salon.com) top ten records of the year. Honorable mentions include "Medulla" by Bjork and "Heroes to Zeros" by the Beta Band.
Also, check out his top 25 free* downloads. Free is good.
* Not really free. When I was in grad school, students with ID could ride free on municipal buses. Not technically free, of course - a fee was included when you registered for classes to cover bus passes for everyone**. But it felt like free because you just showed your card to the driver and took a seat. Similarly, the cost of distributing these songs for free is indirectly shared. But it feels like free. And since you are already paying for it, you might as well download a few.
** Eventually, the free-marketeers got to it, and decided that it wasn't fair to make everyone pay for bus usage, since everyone didn't take the bus (although everyone could, if they wanted to take advantage of the service). From then on, you had to pay by trip, just like regular uncollectivized folks. If I recall correctly***, this free-market solution to a non-problem lasted one year, and then they decided to switch back to fee collection and free-like bus rides.
*** Maybe I'm making this whole thing up.

I guess I'm not usually inspired enough to post... I don't blame this on insipid posts, just on my own general lack of inspiration.
Usually I read stuff and all I can think of to say is, "Yeah, you're right"
I'm just going to start responding to every message with "mega dittoes".

I don't have computer access at work (I know, how insane!!!) and when I get home...usually too tired to be inspired. Lame excuses yes, I work posting more.

Please don't take my curmudgeonliness seriously. I realize that you folks have actual things to do. No shaming intended!
