That's mello. It reminds me of Portishead, just to orient myself using a popular band.

Better yet, it makes me think of the times I drove up the coast to Santa Barbara late on a clear night. I could see far out to sea under the full moon, and this is what it sounded like inside my head.

Allmusic says...
The dreamy indie rock sounds of Trespassers William is composed by Ross Simonini (bass/keyboards), Anna-Lynne Williams (vocals/guitar), Matt Brown (guitar/keyboards), and Jamie Williams (drums). Matt and Anna-Lynne started the band as a twosome in 1997 during the SoCal punk revival heyday. Two years later, Ross was added to the group, and the band self-released its debut album, Anchor. Shows in and around the West Coast followed as did exposure on college radio. By 2002, Trespassers William was a full-fledged group with Jamie stepping to play drums. Bella Union's Simon Raymonde caught wind of the band's lush soundscape. His label issued Trespassers William's second album, Different Stars, in the U.K. that same year. Shows with the Chameleons UK's Mark Burgess, Morrissey, Tim Booth, Damien Rice, and Lisa Germano followed. Spots on KCRW, KEXP, and XFM added to Trespassers William's growing popularity. Nettwerk took notice and signed the band to a proper record deal in 2003. Their music had already appeared in episodes of The O.C., Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and MTV's the Real World and Road Rules by this time. Different Stars was reissued in fall 2004.

I liked the one track...very Mazzy Star, I thought. No surprise that Nettwork has belatedly picked them up..it definitely fits into that label's sound.

It fits well with my mood today. I just finished listening to Blue Rodeo's "5 Days in July" (which I highly recommend even though it's country) and Calexico's "Feast of Wire"...hmmm and that track kind of put me in the mood for Over the Rhine's "Ohio"...

..but before I go, I don't know if music affects the sexes differently, but I do know that despite me having a lot more female friends than male friends, I know more men that I would characterize as "music addicts" than women.

Yeah, Mazzy Star! that's what I was thinking of, not Portishead. (Although a little Portishead, too.)

A little Aimee Mann too. I like this a lot, but it's not surprising since I have a bit of a thing for the singer/songwriter types. Nice sound. Lovely. Might check out more.
