The FBI e-mail, which was sent in May 2004 from 'On Scene Commander--Baghdad' to a handful of senior FBI officials, notes that the FBI has prohibited its agents from employing the techniques that the President is said to have authorized."

Does anyone else find themselves wanting to crawl in a deep dark hole? This happened to me in 2000, I finally crawled out, but now I am ready to go back in for a few more years. Sometimes I find myself trying hard to ignore the awful truth so I don't have to deal with my feelings about humanity. Am I alone?
It is depressing.
I think many people willfully decided that they would believe this administration, despite all the reasonable evidence to the contrary. They will keep on believing them because it is convenient.
On the bright side, the FBI (the FBI!) apparently refused to use abusive interrogation techniques on anyone because it was against their guidelines, regardless of what Bush or Rumsfeld approved. So that is something, at least.
I think that, while humans act, generally speaking, not much different than a bunch of scared chimps, there are also those who rise slightly above the fight and act on reason instead of fear.
