never send to know for whom the bell tolls

It tolls for thee.
Or your chicken. Sadly, yesterday, our most outgoing and prettiest chicken, Doori, unexpectedly died. The cause is still a mystery.
As a chick, she quickly learned to jump and climb to the highest spot she could reach - usually the top of someone's head. Even as a nearly fully grown bird, she was still trying to do that.
Oh, I am no good at eulogies - it is something I plan on never being good at. She was a nice bird, and fun to watch. It is too bad she didn't live a longer time.

Het John, found this site which lists common causes of mortality in chickens. It sounds like she was a very good bird, you have my deepest condolences. Good luck with the rest.
PS, perhaps you should alert the CDC, maybe you are in a hot zone of avain flu, have any birds recently vacationed in Thailand?

We wondered about that. There were cases of avian flu in Delaware this last year I think, but of course our birds haven't been in contact with any others since the day they were born.
