More follies on the political front

So much for laying low for a while...

It seems the lawless Democrats are at it again. GOP Headquarters in Orlando was ransacked by protestors and another GOP Headquarters was shot at outside of Knoxville, Tennessee. But that's not voter intimidation, and it's certainly not a threat to our freedom of speech. Do you think if this had been a Democratic Headquarters in Harlem we'd get this kind of apathy?

And this, which probably fits better under the category "disenfranchisement."

I was going to leave off gerrymandering because whoever is in charge tends to do it, but right now that happens to be the Republicans.

(The article refers to an upcoming (at the time the article was written) SCOTUS decision on gerrymandering in PA - they upheld the Republican gerrymander. Later, they refused to hear an appeal of a state Sup Court decision that overruled a Republican gerrymander in CO. They have had two rulings in the past (I think) prohibiting race-based gerrymandering)

That's ok... I peed on a Bush/Cheney lawn sign the other day (well... night, really). The owner came out... but it turned the guy was just dog sitting, so he joined me! ahh... it felt lawlessly good.

"anonymous" is helping me make my point, as did the other "anonymous" in an earlier post.

Your point is well taken, John, that there are lawless Republicans as well.

Both sides have got to get a hold of themselves. ANYONE who steals or vandalizes things are breaking the law, and this behavior should stop. Get a grip people! This attitude of "whatever it takes" is dangerous. What's next, riots and looting?? Where is the public outcry against such behavior? (I just realized I sound like that Authoritarian mother/father figure)

Note: Republicans have used erasable markersand concrete chunks, while Democrats have used break-ins, bullets
and bayonets.

First, I don't think it is fair to assume that Democrats stole anyone's laptops. Laptops are valuable and get stolen all the time. Second, if it is fair to assume such a thing, then I say that Republicans stole these laptops. If I read it right, it looks like the GOP owes the Dems one laptop!

On the substance of your comment, once you get past accusing Democrats of being worse people than Republicans, you're right. We shouldn't be doing stuff like this to each other. You have to wonder about the environment of fear and anger that permits/causes/encourages people to act out violently, and how that environment developed. I'm sure you have your own opinions on this last point, as do I.

Yes I do. We were attacked. The country is divided on the best approach for defending ourselves in the future.

I used to think that we all wanted the same end but had different ideas of how to get there, but lately I'm realizing that this isn't the case. It's not about what is the best way to accomplish a goal, it's about the goal itself. I don't think that everyone is afraid that their supermarket is going to get bombed by Middle Eastern terrorists, that their kids are going to get kidnapped by Muslims and forced to wear veils, etc. Disagreement has become more...it's division. Division means we will NEVER see eye to eye. We are in two camps now that won't meet in any middle...maybe that's why people are getting violent on both sides.
